At the time that we had gone to my fiance's OBGYN in North Carolina, my Fiance was 20 years old. She has had a history of Hyper Tension and Very high blood pressure.
Me and my Fiance were living in North Carolina and we had decided it was time to get some birth control. We setup a appointment with this OBGYN we had found at a decent price for our income. When my Fiance was checked out he mentioned to her that she had unusual white blood cell count, high blood pressure. My Fiance had told him that she had Hyper Tension so after her initial appointment he scheduled her for a follow up a month later. All the follow up was, was a nurse taking her blood pressure and that was it. He had put her on TriNessa knowing that she had Hyper Tension and very high blood pressure. I would say that was about April of 2009. Christmas 2009 my girlfriend suffered a stroke at the age of 21. The doctor in the ER after being told what type of Birth Control she was on, suggested that it might have been the TriNessa because it really isn't good for someone with a history of Hyper Tension and High Blood pressure. The ER doctor who had treated my Fiance said that the doctor in North Carolina had made a very grave error and that we should seek some legal advice because the doctor didn't do any testing or even refer her to anyone because of her high blood pressure and hyper tension. I am just wondering what all of your opinions are on this. Also I had to edit this post. As a result of her stroke some testing was done because the doctor she went to when she had the stroke feared that she might have had a tumor on her adrenal gland which can cause the hypertension. After those tests came back negative they mentioned to my fiance something about her kidney's might be causing this whole thing. On my fiance's mom's side of there family they have had kidney disease in almost every generation but 1 so far and everyone has died from it. Now isn't this something that her OBGYN should have come across sooner if he would have checked her out more or referred her to someone because of her hyper tension and blood pressure? |

It is certainly possible you have a case based on what you say here; you should take a brief description of these events as well as your medical records to a malpractice attorney and see if the attorney thinks you have a claim; often you need to contact several attorneys to find one to take the case; the review of your case and records is often free and then they will normally take the case on a contingency fee basis if they think you can win; you would pay only if they collect for you.
World Law attorneys could also become directly involved and perhaps find a way to resolve this -- email them on the home page |
