Does anybody agree this was malpractice?????
I will make this post very short.... But, in 2008 I was admitted to the hospital due to pulmonary emboli (PE)... in otherwords, I had a blood clot in each of my lungs, but this wasn't the worst part. Later, in the same month I was being treated with Warfin to thin my blood. Approx. mid month, I was scheduled for a biopsy, after my doctor found enlarged lymph nodes. She stated I could possibly have Lymphoma Cancer or Sarcoidosis (which were inflammed at the time). Well, praise God, I only had sarcoid and no cancer. However, during the biopsy, my pulmonologist had to cut a portion of tissue from my lymph node in order to have a pathologist determine whether there was cancer or not. So, here we go.... after the short exam, like 5 days later I was lying in my bed, when all of the sudden I sensed a need to spit up something (like mucus) in my throat. Well, after I ran to the bathroom sink, I began to spit up blood. Yes, blood all over the sink, my son rushed me to ER.... to move the story along I ended up about 2 am the next morning in the ICU for emergency surgery, because some "smart" person figured out nearly 22 hours later my right lung had "two" holes punctured as a result of the biopsy. To make matters even more careless, the pharmacy clinic who monitored my Warfin/Coumadin levels, failed to warn my medical team my levels were at 3.4 - 3.5 INR (for those of you who know anything about Warfin/Coumadin levels). So, as you might have guessed my blood was entirely to thin and with the puntured lung and thin blood I leaked like a garden hose.
I lied in ICU for two days on life support, then moved to the floor for an additional 8 days. I have been suffering from multiple medical problems and endured multiple medications, CAT Scans, MRI, X-Rays, blood draws, clinic visits, hospitalizations, etc. I have been considered temporarily disabled for the last 8 months, live on long-term disability payments via my employer(s) and just recently have been able to return back to work. I have so much more I could share re: this case, but does anybody besides myself agree this pulmonologist and the pharmacy clinic might be negligent in their standard of care |

Sounds like definate Neglience. But as you have probably figured out, doctors are never held accountable for their actions. "It's a Risk". Well so is driving your car! But if someone crashes into you, they are responsible and made to pay. You probably signed a consent. But you didn't sign a consent to become a victim. Good luck getting anyone in the Hospital to back up your case. They all dropped the ball, so it's more than just the doctor that should be held responsible... and I'd put money on the fact that you'll have one heck of a time getting anyone other than a Patient Advocate to speak to you.
Find yourself a laywer. All of your expenses should be wiped out, and all future expenses due to this nightmare should be covered as well. Best of Luck!! |
