Medicare and tourism were the main topics of the Barren River Area Development District meeting Monday.
Kentucky Legal Aid attorney Daniel Curry encouraged BRADD members to get the word out about open enrollment for Medicare Part D, but more important, the “extra help” that is available for seniors who can’t afford their co-pays or monthly plan fees. And Mammoth Cave National Park Superintendent Pat Reed gave members a sneak preview of an upcoming WKYU-TV documentary about the cave that he thinks “will have a profound impact” on tourism in the region. Melissa Powell, who accompanied Curry, said many people who can qualify for the extra help don’t apply because they are unaware of it. The subsidy amounts to about $3,900 a year. To qualify, residents must not make more than $16,245 a year, $21,855 if they are married. They can’t have assets valued at more than $12,510 ($25,010 married), but that excludes the value of their home and vehicles. For more information about Medicare Part D and scheduling workshops, call (866) 452-9243. |

This is a good news! A great article for those who do not know about free legal services. This is a graet help since most of the convicted criminals do not have money to pay for an attorney. In Atlanata for isntance, there are many local firms that serve its clienteles free of charge. Some though, has payments. Some of those firms are listed on this site www.yellowise.com

Area residents can receive a free half-hour consultation with a lawyer on the third Wednesday of every month through a volunteer lawyer program in the Anne Arundel County law library.
The next consultations will be done on Wednesday between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Civil court issues, except for family court matters, can be addressed, including contracts, wills and real estate. The program is sponsored by the Anne Arundel Bar Association and the law library. The library is on the third floor of the Anne Arundel County Court House, 7 Church Circle, Annapolis.

You can also request free legal aid from World Law Direct on their home page.
If you are low income or unemployed e.g. you may receive assistance at no charge. Just email them to ask. |
