K&L Gates, Australia’s Middletons, in Advanced Merger Talks
Law-firm mergers that span the Atlantic are soooo last decade.
 The news follows that of other big mergers featuring Aussie players, like the UK’s Herbert Smith and Australia’s Freehills, news of which broke in June. Late last year, Beijing-based King & Wood and Australia’s Mallesons Stephen Jaques announced they were merging, creating one of the largest cross-border partnerships to have neither a U.S. nor British firm involved.
