Default Australian Court Rules for Prostitute Who Was Turned Away By Motel

An Australian court has ruled that motel owners violated an anti-discrimination law when they refused to rent a room to a prostitute.



A sex worker known as “Karlaa” sued after management at Drover’s Rest Motel in the mining town of Moranbah after she was turned away. Her lawsuit claimed violations of the country’s Anti-Discrimination Act, which bans discrimination on the basis of lawful sexual activity. Karlaa lost her original case but appealed last year to Queensland court.
