Default Daily Writing Sample: The ‘Extra Value’ of Corny Jokes

Today’s writing sample comes from Maryland’s highest court.



“After being arrested on an unrelated open warrant and while he was held in a police interrogation room, Williamson was given a McDonald’s meal by the police,” Judge Glenn Harrell wrote for the Maryland Court of Appeals in King v. State (2012).

“He drank from the drink cup and left the debris behind when he was taken from the room. The police recovered the discarded cup and swabbed it for DNA. The DNA thus obtained was analyzed and the results uploaded to the database,” matching evidence from the cold cases, the judge wrote.

The Freedom of Information Act now allows a person to be able to search for police record and warrant information. It is important that use the internet do a free search because if he just goes into a court house to get this information.
