In Missouri, a new state law due to take effect later this month restricts private online communication between a teacher and a student and may make it illegal for teachers to have students as friends on Facebook, according to the piece in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The goal of the law is to prevent the sexual abuse of students by their teachers, but the law has sowed uncertainty.
