Default Mets Owners: We Never Shopped For Madoff Insurance
The he said-she said saga between the New York Mets owners and Madoff trustee Irving Picard continues. In a bankruptcy court filing late Monday, lawyers for Mets owners Fred Wilpon and Saul Katz said they never shopped for fraud insurance to protect their investments with convicted Ponzi scheme operator Bernard Madoff. Picard, who is seeking to recover assets for Madoff's victims, has alleged the Met owners explored buying an insurance policy in 2001, saying it showed they were on notice of a potential fraud by Madoff.
