Hevesi Judge Accused Of Hiding Ties To Lawyer’s Father

Great human dramas play out in courtrooms across the country practically every day. Most of the time, they involve people -- a plaintiff or a defendant -- directly affected by the case.But over the last week in New York, another sort of saga has unfolded, involving Bradley Simon, the lawyer for former New York State Comptroller Alan Hevesi, Simon's "bitterly estranged" father, and New York State Supreme Court Judge Lewis Bart Stone, who is presiding over Hevesi's case.



Simon (pictured) discovered at a March 1 hearing with Stone, less than a week before Hevesi’s scheduled sentencing, that the judge was a fiduciary in living trusts for Simon’s parents and executor of his father’s will, and that his father, as Stone put it, had “sort of cut [Simon] out.”
