Venue Surprise: Loughner Trial Moved to Tucson
Well how's this for a surprise: the federal trial of Jared Loughner, the man accused of shooting U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords as well as a handful of others in a Jan. 8 shooting spree, is moving to Tucson, the site of the shooting.
 At least for now. The case started off in Phoenix. And from there, frankly, we expected it to go anywhere other than Tucson, where the potential jury pool, it could be argued, might be tainted by its proximity to the Jan. 8 events. But no. San Diego federal judge Larry Burns, who was brought in to oversee the case, ordered the case moved to Tucson on Monday. More... |
