Banned From School Over Nose Ring, NC High Schooler Sues

You could start a blog (perhaps one already exists?) devoted exclusively to dustups between public school officials and students over what students are allowed to wear.

The ACLU on Wednesday filed a lawsuit against the a school board in North Carolina after a high school outside Raleigh suspended a 14-year-old high school student because she had a pierced nose. The lawsuit seeks a court order allowing Ariana Iacono (pictured) to return to Clayton High School immediately. Iacono has been suspended from Clayton High School four times since classes began last month. She has missed 19 days.

Schools have much more power than other institutions.
A school is not an open public forum.

Banning nose rings will be legal IMHO.

My private school also banned them when I was there, and they do get some state funds.
