Reports: Detroit Mayor to Plead Guilty Thursday Morning
This just in, from the Detroit Free Press: Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick is slated to plead guilty later tomorrow morning to some of the charges against him in a six month long legal battle. The mayor’s troubles began in January when the Detroit Free Press published text messages between Kilpatrick and his former chief of staff, Christine Beatty, that appeared to contradict their sworn testimony in a trial last year that they didn’t have an affair. That led the mayor being charged with multiple felony charges, including perjury, in March. We’ll of course update the story when details of his plea agreement emerge.
