Default Winning Edge Settles Patent Lawsuit with SportsDirect and Covers Media Group

General Patent Corporation International (GPCI), a leading patent licensing and enforcement firm, announced today on behalf of its client, Winning Edge International, formerly known as GWIN, that Winning Edge has settled its patent infringement lawsuit against Canadian corporation SportsDirect, Inc. and its subsidiary, Irish corporation Covers Media Group Ltd.

A lawsuit against Sportsdirect, Inc., Covers Media Group Ltd., Vegas Experts.com, Inc., Vegas Insider.com, Preferred Picks Publications and Don Best Sports was filed in August 2006 in the Eastern District of Texas (2:06 CV 318) for the infringement of Winning Edge's U.S. Patent No. 6,260,019 (the Patent). GPCI previously announced settlements with all of the other defendants.

"We are pleased to have reached settlements with the last remaining defendants in this lawsuit," said Paul Lerner, GPCI's Sr. Vice President and General Counsel. He continued, "We look forward to licensing others in the online gaming industry."

Winning Edge owns U.S. Patent No. 6,260,019 titled "Web-Based Prediction Marketplace". The patented technology pertains to the on-line prediction of future events.

"Winning Edge and our parent company Betbrokers PLC are very happy that this lawsuit is successfully concluded," said Wayne Root, CEO of Winning Edge. "We are delighted with the results."

GPCI represents Winning Edge in the licensing and enforcement of the Patent. A non-exclusive license under the Patent is available on reasonable and non-discriminatory terms. For licensing terms, please contact Paul Lerner at (845) 368-4000 x104.

Winning Edge was represented in this lawsuit by the law firm of DiNovo Price Ellwanger LLP, a patent litigation boutique in Austin, TX.
