Confused County Court Judgement

I took a non-paying tenant to Court and was awarded a County Court Judgement in July 2001. The Defendant did not attend and did not pay any money, just vacated my property. Is it too late to try and get some of the money he owes me? The total amount awarded by the Court was over £3,000.00 (including £350.00 for my costs of making the application for possession of my property).

It should not be too late to get your money if you have a court judgement for this amount. I don't know how long a judgement is good for in your area, but here it is good for 10 years. The judgement should be reported and recorded. If you can locate the tenant, you should be able to garnish wages, attach property or bank accounts, or other means as legal in your area. Note that not all of these forms of obtaining your judgement are available in all areas. Some areas prohibit some of these means. You may also be able to turn the judgement over to a debt collection service, but they will take a portion of any money you collect. (Keep in mind that getting a judgement is usually much easier than collecting the actual money. Sorry.) Good luck.
