Confused Tenant has dementia- MI

Michigan -- I work for a multi-housing management company and we have an elderly woman with no family and only one elderly friend she has contact with. She is apparently suffering from dementia. An example is she was late with her rent and we visited her apartment. She was surprised the rent wasn't paid, but there on her kitchen table sat money orders made out to us well before the rent was due. We worry that she will forget things like the stove being on or other behavior that would endanger herself and/or her neighbors. With no family to contact, what are our options?

Call an agency, like an agency on aging, or call a Senior Center, or call the police's community outreach officer and tell them this situation. They will be able to lead you in the right direction.

Double check with her elderly friend and see if your tenant has any family whatsoever, and contact them, too.
