Default AVOID LEGAL PROBLEMS

MY WIFE AND I MOVED INTO THIS APARTMENT APPOX. 3 YEARS AGO. WE SIGNED A 1 YEAR LEASE. AT THE END OF OUR 1 YEAR WE AGAIN SIGNED ANOTHER 1 YEAR LEASE. AT THE END OF OUR LEASE THE DEVELOPMENT WAS SOLD AND ARE NOW CONDOS.
5 DAYS AGO, WE RECEIVED A NOTICE TO VACATE OUR APARTMENT IN 15 DAYS. WE HAVE BEEN LIVING ON A MONTH-TO-MONTH.
ARE WE OBLIGATED TO MOVE IN 15 DAYS? SINCE THE APARTMENT WILL BE RE-FURBISHED, RUGS REMOVED, BATHROOMS WILL HAVE NEW TUB, ETC. DO WE NEED TO LEAVE THE UNIT AS WE FOUND IT. HOW DO WE GET OUR DEPOSIT BACK.
ANY FURTHER INFORMATION YOU CAN PROVIDE WILL BE APPRICIATED.

Since you were on a month to month tenancy at this time, the LL only needs to give you proper notice to have you move and end your tenancy. Check your state's LL-Tenant law to see how much notice a LL is required to give you as a m2m or tenant at will. Some states require as much as 60 days notice, others require only a couple weeks. There may be additional requirements the LL has to folow depending on your state. Please research these laws and let us know...

usually it is 30 days, at least in our state, if you are on a MTM

or whatever your period of payment is--such as every two weeks or every quarter etc
