Default Lease ending... Am I considered a month to month tenant? -- Boston, MA

I moved into my apartment in July 2010 for a1 year lease. So obviously its coming to the end of my lease. In my lease there is no stipulation that my lease will automatically renew. If i am not given a new lease once my year is up am i considered a month to month tenant at that point? If so, I plan on moving within the next couple of months will I have to give a 30day notice with no lease?

I wish to inform you that if you do not make any lease agreement then your fixed lease will automatically gets converted into month to month lease. In this regard Mass. Gen.laws Ann.Ch.186 specifically mentions period for termination of lease to be 30 days. In this the change of lease from yearly to monthly lease will occur if no new lease is being signed at the end of the lease.
