Confused Eviction... will they give me more time or will it be a fast eviction?

We had recently gone to court for nonpayment and agreed to make weekly payments of $500.00 a week. My fiance was hurt soon after that and is currrently disabled. Now we have a new court date to vacate the property. We have 5 children and no where to go. I need to know if they will give me more time or will it be a fast eviction?

It's unlikely that you will get any more time from the Court. Once it gets to that point, your fate is sealed.

Your failed to pay your rent before, and the agreement you made was the only thing keeping you from being evicted. I'm not sure why you fell so far behind that you were required to make $500/wk payments before, but it's just another run of bad luck that now you are unable to keep that agreement either.

The judge will likely see this for what it is - "if it's not one thing, it's another". Either way, the LL's not getting the money he is entitled to. Your family situation and your financial troubles are not LL's concern. This is a BUSINESS, not a charity. He just wants the past due rent, or he wants his rental unit back so that he can get the rent from someone else who CAN pay.

You might have a better chance trying to work out something else with the LL or his attorney before the court date, but I wouldn't count on it. I'd be preparing to find another place to live NOW.

This process has taken some time. Why do you have nowhere else to go? Haven't you been looking for another place to rent?

You're going to have to stop sticking your head in the sand, grow up and put a roof over your children's heads.

Please stop having so many children if you cannot be responsible enough to provide a home for them.

You are a dumb, judgmental ads for saying what you did! People fall on hard times! You have no right to ask why people have "so many children"! She was obviously scared to death and your response was worthless! Go crawl back into the selfish and judgmental hole you climbed out of!
