Default Registered letter from landlord

Greetings,

I have a couple of questions and hope that I am conducting myself correctly in this forum.

I received a notice of a registered letter. The notice indicates that it is from the owner of a mobil home court that I live in.

In order to keep this limited to one subject at a time, the question is :

If receiving an eviction notice via registered letter, does the time limit to comply to the letter apply from the date that you sign for the letter, or from the time that the letter was registered?

Thank you

EEK! Re: Registered letter from landlord

Thanks.

The situation has since changed and I am not sure if the landlord is becoming psychotic or ???

The mobil home is owned by my girlfriend of 5 years. She is on a month to month pad rental. Some units are owned by the landlord and some are not.

Although the landlord apparently does not like dogs, There are no written agreements concerning pets and about 60 % do have pets.

My girlfriend also owns a pet and it got away while under my watch. The landlord lured the dog into his garage & gave it away to a friend. We found out what he did the following day and my girlfriend called him and demanded the return of the "stolen" pet. He did return it.

He then asked animal control to put a cage in his yard which they did and low & behold about 2 weeks later either someone loosed the dog from its collar or it somehow took it off itself and wound up in the cage. I noticed the dog missing within 5 minuets and drove to the landlords house and saw the pet in the cage. I explained that he was tied up & that I am not sure how he got away. I asked to take him home & buy another collar. The landlord said that if I take him I would be arrested..I took him anyway.

When animal control showed up they say the collar attatched to the chain. They informed me that I am not allowed to tamper with county property & to not let it happen again. Everything between us & animal control was resolved.

The landlord was mad that I did not get arrested (even though we did not have him arrested for dog theft) and thats when he issued a 30 day notice to vacate. The notice did not mention anything about the dog.

Toward the end of the 30 days he approached Melody and told her that she does not have to move and she can keep the pets as long as she files a restraining order & pays for it stating that I am not allowed to come around the mobil home that we live in.

Today he said that he can no longer tolorate all of my crap & that he is filing a restraining order himself so that I can not go home.

Other then removing the pet (which I dont even own) I have lived here for almost 3 years with no situations at all.

Is it possable for the landlord to follow through on such a threat? And if so, does that seperate me from all my posessions? hmmmm

What is required for a person to file a restraining order that is acceptable?

Thank you

It is not likely he would succeed--but you should work on getting out of there or reslving these issues...
