Landlord is adding charges to rent is that legal?

My landlord added a $60 charge to my rent this month for lawn care and it is not stated in the lease that this charge exists or that he can just add random charges to the rent. I was wondering is this even legal for him to do?

Was lawn care your responsibility in your lease? Did you receive notice that the lawn was not being maintained? If so, and you failed to cure the violation, the LL has the option to cure the default and charge you the costs (same as if you had caused damages and are being billed for them).
