Unhappy tenant vs. landlord: pet policy

need legal advise on restricted breeds pet policy. my husband and i were given warning to evict notices by our management staff because we had a tall american bulldog. i am pissed off, because they lied to my husband and i that these dogs are not allowed in the apt community, but yet other tenants are allowed to have their dogs (with no problem!) so, yes, i am seeking proffessional advise to get help with this. we have done nothing wrong to deserve this treatment from the apartment staff. so im sure they know that they may be doing something wrong to us and trying to get away with it.

thankyou, michelle from california

Same breed as your dog?

It's the landlord's right to make the rules on pets. Which breed can live on the premises, which breed cannot.

There is no such breed as a "tall bulldog" Bulldogs should only get to be 12-16" tall. If it is taller than that, it isn't a pure bulldog and may be part boxer. An American bulldog can grow to be between 22 and 27" tall. Additionally, many breed-specific laws use the term "pit bull" to refer to the modern American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, and Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and dogs with significant mixes of these breeds; however, a few jurisdictions also classify the modern American Bulldog and Bull Terrier as a "pit bull-type dog". So it is easy to see why a "tall bulldog" is in the restricted breeds list. Management makes the choice on what breeds they will accept. If they don't accept yours, get rid of the dog or face eviction.
