Will I get stuck with full rent?

My roommate and I signed a least in August for a year. She is now going to be "transferred" to another city for four months and then apparently continue onto another city etc for the next year or so. She is talking about breaking the lease. We are both on one lease together. What i am worried about is she will break "her end" of the lease and I will be stuck with the the entire rent and electric bill for the apartment monthly. There is no "termination of lease" in our lease itself. Also will I be stuck with large fines for "breaking a lease" when its not of my choice. I tried to speak with my roommate about subletting but it was too much of a "hassle for her" and she didnt want to have to deal with that. We are in Virginia if that helps at all. Any advice or help would be appreciated.

You dont need to talk her about subleasing. She isnt going to be there. Just do it (with Landlord approval) otherwise you will need to pay full rent etc in order to stay. The only other thing you can do is sue the current roomate for rent etc you pay in her absence
