Confused Roommates illegal activity need help. TX

I live in Texas and have a lease in a two bedroom apartment. Each bed space is lease separately. I didn't know my roommate before he moved in. In the lease it states that any illegal drugs used or found on the premises you will be subject to fines or eviction. I talked to the office the first time it happened and they posted a violation and told me to let them or the courtesy officer know if it happened again. The next time that it happened i let the courtesy officer know and he came and smelled it. They warned him that time. It happened again and I called the officer again and he never returned my call. I called twice and never got a call back. He was taking the calls even though he was out on a crime scene instead of not taking them and letting them go to a manager. So no one from the office smelled it. The office talked to him about it and he lied and told them he didn't do it. He has lied to me multiple times also. I am tired of dealing with this kid and his illegal habits as well as not cleaning anything. He also will not talk to me at all now. The office wont do anything about it now but said that if we cant talk to each other they would force someone to move. They want to try to force me to move. The lease I signed it says relocation must be mutually agreed upon. Can someone please help me with what I should do? Is this grounds for breaking my lease?

Thanks

Start calling the law, not a courtesy officer. Call the cops and report drug activity. Get police statements. Send copies of those to management and demand that they remove the roommate since you are a law abiding tenant who is paying your rent. State that allowing this to continue violates your right to peacefully enjoy your rental space. Insist that they take action. Send all this in writing, by certified mail, return receipt requested, and keep a copy of all of this in a safe place. If they refuse to take action, threaten to break the lease and sue them. They will quickly ask the roommate to vacate.

So actually call the cops even though the courtesy officer is a policeman?

And who, exactly, is the courtesy officer? Is he on duty? Or just an off duty police officer they hired at the complex? If he isn't an on duty cop, call the cops. You want to report this immediately, not wait for some person who is actually off duty to come when he can. If he is off duty, he has no authority. Call and talk to a detective in charge of drugs as soon as you can too. Get them on your roommate.

Yes the courtesy Officer is a homicide detective that lives on the property so yes he is off duty. I don't know for sure if he always has drugs in his room or not. But his door has a lock on it so I don't think i can call the cops if it can be smelled because I don't think they can go in his room.

This cop is off duty. He is not a drug officer. He is no more than a security guard and has no authority. Call the police department!

If the courtesy officer can smell it when he comes, why couldn't the police? You can allow them into the apartment, just not into his room.

Call the police department now and ask to speak to a drug enforcement officer. Describe what is happening and ask for his help and advice. Get a number to call whenever you smell drugs being used.

If nothing can be done, wait out your lease, then give notice and move.

It is best if you take action to resolve the matter. Call the cops as someone else here said. Make sure you've kept a record of actions you've taken, people you've made the complaint to and whatnot. Also they shouldn't be asking you to leave the premises as you're not the one violating your lease. It should be your roommate and not you.

gturnwald, please edit your post. It is not a good idea to post your address or phone/fax number on a forum such as this. This is an international forum and you can be contacted repeatedly by scam artists from around the world.
