Confused Hotel Renters Rights

Hello, I've been staying at a hotel in Vancouver, WA. for a little over 30 days now. I know that you usually become a legal tenant after staying at a hotel for 30 days. But this major hotel chain has a rewards point system. After staying several times at this chain, I've earned thousands of points. So for the first 13 days of my current stay, I paid for this room with reward points. I've stayed here on top of those 13 days at least another 20 days, which is all together more than 30 days. Does that still give me legal tenant rights? After 30 days and becoming a legal resident/tenant, hotels cannot charge taxes which is quite a lot alone, along with other legal rights that are attained. Thank you very much. Sincerely, SJZ

Default Re: Hotel Renters Rights

We can't answer this. It is not a LL-Tenant law question because WA (or any other states') LL-Tenant law does NOT apply to temporary housing such as hotels and vacation rentals. Special laws apply to temporary housing. I doubt any hotel stay in a large chain would allow you to become a legal resident of the state. You would have to rent a long-term type housing to do this. But ask someone more knowledgeable in hotel law, not LL-Tenant law.
