deposit not returned
I was almost raped in my apartment by an illegal tenant (a man living with someone who had a lease). I gave verbal notice and moved -- The property manager is refusing to return any of my security deposit because I didn\'t give 30 day written notice. Is there anything I can do?

Report the attempted assault to the police. Oh, you mean about the deposit not being returned? Unlessa you have proof that you gave the 30 days notice to the manager... No, you don't have proof you gave notice. Crime is not a reason to move out without notice. Sorry. I hope they prosecuted the guy, though.

I am so sorry for what happened. However its not the Landlords fault. If you did not give the legally required notice the landlord is right in keeping your deposit and if that doesnt cover all his loses or if your leaving violated an existing lease you could be on the hook for more
