My ex-boyfriend refuses
My ex-boyfriend refuses to leave or continue to pay me rent. he has no receipts from when he did pay. Legally, what's my best defense. And how long will this take in NYC courts?

NY has some complicated rental laws. You are best off consulting a Lawyer

Start by handing him a written 30 day notice to vacate (no reason needed). Keep a copy. If you are the tenant on the lease, see an attorney to evict him.
