Angry Soon to be landlord is harrasing me!

I have a Section 8 voucher and my soon to be new landlord asked me to pay for August or he will rent to someone else and believe it or not I already paid him $3,000 plus $700 since May 21st. I didn't moved in because the inspection was on July 17th and the apartment passed inspection,yet ,I'm still waiting for the move-in letter from Section 8.I'm on disability and me and my 2 children only get $1,350 per month.I've had to borrow money to give it to him.He is frustrated with Section 8 and so am I but him threatening me with renting to somone else if I don't pay up and keeping all the money I paid him minus the $1,500 for deposit if I don't, because Section 8 is not working on my papers faster is making me very,very upset.

So call your caseworker! They are the ones holding this up. Get on them to get this finished. Until he gets money from them, you owe it.

I can't believe the LL has held this for you so long already. Most won't hold more than 3 weeks. Until that unit passes inspection, they get the paperwork done, and he (and you) sign the lease contract with S8, he isn't committed to rent to you. He can rent to anyone. He is charging holding fees equal to the amount of rent he is losing waiting for your aid to go through. Is he supposed to just let this unit sit for another month without the rent coming in? Of course not. He needs to have the income from that unit. Get S8 to send him a commitment letter with a starting date. Get the paperwork signed with s8. Then he can wait for them to send h9m the checks, not you. Otherwise he will deny you, return your deposit, and keep the holding fees.
