Confused Help Help!

I had a 1 year lease on my apartment. I broke the lease to move away to college but gave the apartment manager a month and a half notice. Everything was fine and I never heard anything else from the manager. Two days before I vacated a new manager called me and informed me that she had taken over and wanted to schedule my exit walk through for my apartment. She said if everything was in shape in the apartment that I would get my deposit back. Inspection went well and she told me that I would in fact be receiving my deposit. WELL....a month in a half later I received a call from a collection service stating that I owed the apartment complex a months rent for breaking the lease and that my deposit had been applied towards it. This was never discussed nor had management tried to contact me about it. I know that the apartment was rented almost immediately after I moved out. Can they do this?

Default Re: Help Help!

You can sue her in small claims if she had agreed otherwise with you.
