Default leak in pipe

I own a rental property located in Southern California. Over the weekend I was notified by the tenants, that there is a leak from the 2nd floor bathroom that has found it's way out from the ceiling to the kitchen on the 1st floor. This problem has happened before in the past and was fixed. Unfortunately one of my tenants had slipped because of the water that had accumulated on the floor from this leak but I was told they were O.K. I am doing everything I can do now to make sure the problem gets fixed A.S.A.P. Will I be held liable if, in the later or near future, the tenants want to sue me for this fall?

Normally no; not if they could see and knew of the leak.
