My wife and I moved into an apartment complex in Arizona, and 3 months later, she was pregnant. She has signs of preeclampsia, and has very high blood pressure. She is therefore unable to work, and is not supposed to be going up or down stairs at all. We live on the second floor. We cannot afford the apartment on my salary. I never thought I would have to break my lease, but it looks like it will be happening.
So, is this a valid legal reason to break my lease? Is there anything I can tell my apartment complex to lessen the blow of the apartment complex when we give our 30 day notice tomorrow? |

No that is not a valid reason although I see your point. You need to talk to Landlord and come to some agreement. Expect this to cost you!

ok, thank you. We will be talking to them tomorrow. Between my student loans, my wife's car payment, and our other bills, I don't think I could pay a cent to them right now, hence why we are forced to move.

I talked to my complex and they told me that they would work on finding a re-leaser, somewhat like a sub-leaser, except that our names would be completely off the lease. Apparently, they are at 100% capacity and there is a list of people waiting to get in, so they should have the apartment rented ASAP. We aren't going to be penalized at all. It is sad because our neighbor lost their job 2 months ago, and midnight moved the other night without talking to the manager. I am so happy that we did talk to them.
We just found a place $300 cheaper than our place in a slightly better neighborhood. It is wonderful. |

Glad to hear it is all working out. Get it in writing that you will have no further obligation when you move out. Best of luck with your wife's pregnancy!
