Family of three can not live in a one bedroom apartment??

Is there any law saying that a family of three can not live in a one bedroom apartment. Our leaser said that we have to move out from the current one bedroom apartment, because we are three people, and there is some kind of law in MI that allows only two heartbeats in a bedroom. I recently had a baby who is four month old now.

Thank you for your email. Most cities have rules that forbid that. And any landlord can refuse to allow that.

That answer is not correct. HUD guidelines allow 2 per bedroom plus one, making 3 the max per a one BD unit. Additionally, a 4 month old takes up very little space so I doubt any sq. footage requirement would apply. Lastly, the Fair Housing Laws prohibit discrimination on the basis of familial status (having children). They cannot kick you out.
