Unhappy As -Is rental agreemant

We rented an apartment in Florida with an As-Is term in the lease. The landlord advised us that he did not have he time to repair the broken window or clean the mess the previous tenants made so he offered to rent it to us with no security deposit and we were to clean the aparment up. He assured us that there were no other problems. We moved in about 3 weeks after singing the lease and first noticed the electrical outlets in one of the bedrooms were not working. We were not using that room so we decided to leave it alone. Then 5 months later all of a sudden all of the electrical outlets in the kitchen plus two in the living room have completely stopped working. We also had a slow draining sink which has completely stopped draining. We attempted to call our landlord but he has a recording that he is out of town for a week.

There is obviously some terrible electrical and sewer issues here. Are these issues something that the landlord should still be responsible even under us signing an As-Is lease?

You can handle the sink problem yourself with some drain cleaner OR a snake. Don't do both! If you snake after using drain cleaner, you risk splashing the caustic liqid onto yourself. I suggest stopping up the other siode of the sink (if a two bowl sink) then plunging the other side vigorously to start. Then try pouring boiling water down the sink. If it is a grease clog, this could take care of it.

The electrical problem - have you checked the breakers/fuses? If so, then this is probably a loose wire on the back of the first outlet in the line. Since you have no way of knowing which is the first outlet and shouldn't handle electricity, this should be a LL problem.
