Confused Paying off back rent

A year ago, we were served with an 'unlawful detainer' notice - we went to court, settled, and paid the back rent. We were served again 6 months later,
but paid in full before going to court. We are behind again on our rent, and I have written the landlord to say we will pay in full very soon, which we will do so in 7 to 10 days from now. In the meantime, can we be locked out of our apartment by the landlord before we pay the back rent?

Thanks!

The LL cannot lock you out without a court hearing and an order of possession granted to the LL by a judge. But keep in mind that each time an eviction is filed with a court, even if dismissed before the hearing by you paying in full, it still remains on your court record for any future LL to see. LLs don't like to rent to tenants with recent eviction cases, whether they won or lost.

Thumbs Up Re: Paying off back rent

Thank you very much for the reply. We are aware of the reports being on our record. The next places we get, we are paying full in cash to purchase. Thanks again.

So you're saying you have enough cash to purchase a residence in full but not enough to pay your rent on time? Not a good way to start your credit record.
