Default rental payment

My son lives in Columbus,Oh. His roommate in their apartment maybe moving out,and is giving him problems about paying his end of the rent. The lease is not up until May '09.The apartment office informed my son that if his roommate moves out,and does not pay his end of the rent, my son will be responsible for all the rent if he continues to live their. Can this be done and what are our options. Thank you. Jeff

Default Re: rental payment

Who is on the lease--who signed it?

They are each/both responsible if they signed.

Your son can if need be sue the other roommate in small claims court if no agreement can be reached.
