Default Landlord vs tenenant verbal agreement

I have been Living in the apartment for a couple months but then decide that I want to bring my motorcycle up. I talked to the landlord prior to doing so and she told me that I would need to purchase a carport. I specifically asked her that if I purchased a carport could I then cancel at any time. She replied yes and that I would have to pay first and last months rent and could cancel at any time, if I chose to cancel then I would have to come in and tell them and then they would just consider that the last months rent. I then purchased the carport and rented it for two months then took my motorcycle back. I then tried to cancel my lease on the carport and she told me no and that I would have to continue paying on the carport for the rest of my lease. I then went in to complain and the lady who officially told me the first time that I could cancel at any time told me again when I went in to complain that its okay and not to worry about anything. She would take care of everything and talk to the general manager personally. It was just me and her in the office. I then left the office thinking everything was taken care of. When I received my rent notice, it still had the carport listed on there and so I went back into the office and the general manager told me that she will not take off the carport from my lease and that I am required to pay for the remainder of my lease. So my question is that, Is the verbal agreement that I entered into enforceable? Can they still make me pay the remainder of my lease even though they told me I could cancel the first time and not too worry about it the second time, she would take care of it? Please help!!!!

Default Re: Landlord vs tenenant verbal agreement

Did you sign any paperwork for the carport? Dis you do an addendum to your lease for it? Was it a fixed term agreement? Or was the ENTIRE agreement verbal (adding the carport, and asking to remove it)?

Is the carport still there? If so, why do you belive you shouldn't continue to pay for it's presence? Removing the motorcycle isn't the issue, you are paying for renting the space for the carport.

Please provide more info.
