Angry being charged for something that was broken before moved in

i have a question if any one can help. i recently moved out of a house i was renting & upon walkthrough as he was walking out the LL claimed the screen door was broken. However the screen door was the same that it was when i moved in. i dont have any pictures showing that it was in the same condition as it was when i moved. basically the top chain on the door was not connected to the doorway as it should be, the door was in otherwise good condition. if any one has any thoughts on this please leave them. i dont want to be charged for another screen door when it was the same as it was when i moved in. i did take pictures upon leaving to show there was no problem with the door closing or opening. Even though the door was the way it was when i moved in i dont think it would be legal to charge for the whole new door when the chain could easily be bolted again. Ecspecially when the door was that way upon my moving in..Annoying!!

You can dispute it in small claims if he will not compromise with you. Take your description and any other evidence or witnesses.

This shows the need for a move in inspection. An inspection then could have been used to show it's condition at move in. He cannot charge you for an entire new door when the one that is there can be satisfactorily repaired.
