I'm behind on my September payment, I recieved a court date for Oct 27, but the property was sold to another owner on Oct 8th. I received a letter from the new company telling me where to send October's Rent but didn't reference any eviction or September rent.
My question is: Can the previous owner evict me if he's not the owner anymore on the court day? If he cannot, do I HAVE to go to court or can I notify the county clerk or something? The reason being that I would then need to ask for permission at my job in order to go to court, but I don't wanna do that cause I just got this job. |

Normally the new owner needs to enter into the case--the old owner has no rights any longer. Call the new owner to see if you can work out a new agreement or they may file as well or the court may in limited cases let them use the existing court date.

I strongly suggest you call the court immediately and see if that case is still on the schedule. If it is, make sure you show up. It may have been transferred over to the new owner. If you pay up the rent and court costs before the 27th, they have to let you stay as long as you aren't habitually late with your rent.
