Default Problem with condo association

I live in NJ in a condo. My condo has had damage due to an exterior building leak. Basically, windows and inside walls have been damaged due to a roof leak. The condo association continues to try to fix the leak, but after an entire year of saying they will repair the inside damage they are now saying I am responsible for the windows/drywall etc. What are my rights here, and what are the steps I should be taking? I would assume I should get a couple estimates to repair the damage, but don't know where to start. Thanks.

They or the building insurer should pay that.

To the last poster, had the OP lived in an apartment the management would have been responsible for the drywall and interior damages. However this is a condo. Condo owners are responsible for the interior of their units. Just like home owners must have insurance, you should be carrying insurance to cover the interior of your owned unit. You own that unit from the walls in, the COA owns only the exterior walls and roof and the common areas. An apartment dweller only rents the unit, he doesn't own it, thus putting the burden on someone else. Contact your property insurance agent and let him wrk this out with the COA insurer on who will pay for what.

BTW - I wouldn't fix the interior until they are sure the leak has been fixed.
