the managers at my apartment complex did a walk through inspection of my apartment and found a pipe that they said smelled like it had drugs smoked in it, and then went through the drawers in the kitchen and found some seeds. they then called the law to search the rest of the house and found nothing. when we returned home later that day we had an eviction notice stuck to our door. was this a legal search and eviction.

Did you give them permission to enter or did your lease pre-approve such walk-throughs?

If they find illegal substances that does violate most leases and does give a right to evict unfortunately.
