Default Mr.

I received notice to vacate my rented house (one of three houses on one parcel) the reason given that the landlady wants to move into the premises. I have been told, for that reason, I am due compensation from the owner. Property is in California, County of Los Angeles. Is this true??

I'm a little rusty on my CA law, but I believe so. Tenants who are asked to move while on a lease or in rent controlled areas are due compensation for the inconvenience. If you are merely on a month to month agreement, she can avoid paying you by simply giving you 60 days to vacate. No reason is required for this. Check your state law for more specifics.
