Angry bugs in my apartment/ breaking lease

I want to know what I should do because my managers do not care that these apartments have termites, ****roaches, and etc. I have complained and they don't do nothing about it. I have two young kids one is 3 years old and the other is only 7 months and its a health hazard for them as it is for me. The management threaten that they would make my credit bad and make me pay the rent even if i move out. this apartment is not healthy or up to date. what should i do?

Sincerely Nicole

You say you have complained. How? By calling them? Stop that method.

You need to send a written request for extermination. Clearly state the problem in a letter and what they need to do to fix the problem. Ask in the letter that they contact you in the next 10 days to tell you when they will fix this problem. Send the letter to them by certified mail, return receipt requested, and keep a copy for yourself. Keep the receipt that comes back saying that they received your letter. If they still take no action, call the clerk of court and ask for their instructions on repair and deduct remedies or for rent withholding. Follow those instructions to the letter. (Be aware that these 2 remedies are not legal in all states so check with the clerk first. Make sure you follow instructions so the LL cannot evict you.)

Or wait until the 10 days have expired after they recieved your letter and call the health department or the city building inspector. But send the letter first or you may forfeit any legal right to take the above steps.
