in october i started working for matrix installs who subcontracts as firedog for circuit city. i'm supposed to be a contractor through them. i've worked numerous jobs a good number of them fixing other firedog techs mistakes. i did alot of drywall work fixing holes left in customers walls. my operations manager asked me to give him an estimate on 2 jobs which i quoted the prices i would fix it for. he agreed, io have witnesses. i also did several holme theater installs which is what firedog does.(i have alot of background in construction). well a week goes by, ask when i'm getting paid, i get an excuse, this happens for several weeks, he puts me off. all of a sudden i can't get a hold of anyone, they stop working me and i cant get paid. they owe me at that time over $2000.00. i tried to contact circuit city, firedog, matrix, my operations manager, no one will respond. a couple of days ago i got the idea that i will protest out i9n front of all their stores and inform customers of their labor practices etc. my operations manager admitted that he had embezzled my wages and tried to settle with me for $745. thats what the company was offering me then wanted me to sign a memo stating they owed nothing more and that they no longer needed my services. i laughed at him and told him i'm not signing ****. when i started working there i had to put up with the male cheauvenist stuff and was told to play the part, im the only female hti firedog tech. theres way more to this and i've just been victimized from every direction. i can'tg get anyone to respond. what legal rights do i have?he says he doesnt owe me money, that he gave thev work i've done he paid to someone else. he refuses to pay me for the work we agreed upon. do i have any righnts here?

You could consult your nearest Department of Labor office to briefly discuss the issue with them first...you may also want to ask the company to put what is happening in writing and explain to them that you may have attorneys review the situation...try speaking to a higher level of management about the issue; they may override the other managers. If none of these efforts resolves the issue, let us know.
And/or you could sue in small claims. |

The local labor department won't do **** for you. The only thing you can do is get all your documentation ready and sue the offending party in small claims court. I was a subcontractor for Custom HomeTheater Design Group (who works for firedog/ Circuit City in Georgia). The owner of this company gave me the run around on payment several times. I called other subcontractors who claim he still owes them around $4000. I wonder how many other similar situations like this have happened?
