Empolyer wants bonus returned
I was a N.P. for a private surgical practice and left 2 weeks ago on good
terms after givng one mos. notice. On departure I was given a gift and a 3rd quarter bonus after leaving. About 6 months earlier I did not feel I was being equitably compensated; an administrator went to the surgeons and I was given a raise and tuition for a class. No verbal conditions were dicussed relative to the tuition, I took it in good faith as bonus monies. Now 2 weeks later they are demanding this money back. Nothing is in writing except for this demand. The surgeons never mentioned 2 me while employed. Do I owe them this money? |

No you normally would not need to give that
back--what grounds do they say they have for that request. |

Thank you for answering. They say that it would no longer benefit their practice for me to attend this class since i have left, so they want the money back...

If you viewed it as comp for past work and an incentive to stay, then you need not return it if no conditons were attached.
