Default Lost Pension Benefits

My husband belonged to New Skeena Forest Products Inc. Retirment Plan for Salaried Employees. BC Registration #085521 Canada Customs and Revenue Agency Number 0948448. It was a defined benefit plan. New Skeena Forest Products went bankrupt and the plan was turned over to Morneau Sobeco a human resources consulting and administrative solutions company. They came back and stated that anyone under the age of 55 now will not be receivng a pension at all and have lost everything. I want to know if this is legally possible, there was no correction in our Pension Adjustment with Revenue Canada (that they took away from us yearly because of our pension). Therefore we can not contribute more towards our RRSP's for future savings. Something seems very unjust on what happened. This was A BCGEU pension to begin with. How can I fight to get our money out of this. 16 years of service has been lost with this and my husband has to start saving all over again.
Thanks

Do you have a union?

Are the workers protesting this together. Depending what promises were made it may not be legal to make that change.

There is a union that was involved BCGEU (BC Government Employees Union). I believe they came back and said there was nothing they could do and were not helpful. I will contact them and find out exactly why they could not help and let you know.
