Boss shows personal information... I did not give consent

My fiance went to my work to talk to my boss about a problem I had been having, my boss took him in the office and showed him a paper that was about me and pretaining to my work there. I did not give consent to this and am upset they showed him a paper without him even asking. Can they do this and if they cant, can I take them to court or sue, Im really upset and want to so something. Please help!
