Have my health privacy rights been violated?

I was diagnosed with H1N1 flu and reported this to my supervisor. The same day, an agency-wide email was sent out by the COO, telling everyone that I had swine flu and that they should be tested. I was surprised that she specifically named me and disclosed my diagnosis to all employees. I immediately thought of HIPPA and was wondering if my privacy rights have somehow been violated?

They did violate your rights if you asked that it be confidential. They could have given the notice without naming you.


If you were damaged somehow you could make an issue of it--hard to see damages though...
