I was forced to resign from my position with a local government in Florida. I had an employment contract which stated that if I was dismissed, they would pay me severance, but if I resigned they wouldn't.
I resigned but they still paid my severance. After filing unemployment, the city told them I resigned and unemployment found me ineligible. So now I have a hearing, since I appealed. The HR Director told me he wouldn't contest the unemployment claim, but he would change the exit report to say I was dismissed for poor performance. I believe the dismissal was for political reasons and not for poor performance. What should I do in this case? Stay on track with my claim that I was forced to resign or let the city change the exit form to say I was dismissed for poor performance and possibly become eligible? Any suggestions... |
