I need to take a leave of absence from my employer, I want to request it for personal reasons, (I don't want my employer to know I am training for another job) how can I word the request? and if my employer finds out I am training for another job can they fire me?

They can fire you yes.
...best to do that on your actual own time--weekends etc. |

No I don't want you to help me lie, I just want to know what my legal rights are. I was told all I have to tell them is I need a leave of absence for personal reasons, and either they give it to me or they don't.
