Employment Contract Dispute: Should they pay me?
After being fired, I received a deduction on my final cheque from the employer for roughly $3500 for Class 1 driver's training and uniform.
The contract that I signed when I first started for this was very simple. It lists the equipment with the prices and then says: "By signing this form you agree that if you terminate for any reason within the first six months of your employment with *****, you will be charged for the above on your final pay." My take on this is that to terminate, I would need to quit of my own will instead of them making me... otherwise shouldn't it say "If you are terminated"? I was fired and believe they have no grounds to charge me. I have tried to negotiate and sent them the self help package I filled out from labor standards with no success. Should they pay me? |
