Breach of Confidentiality
I work for a large company in Florida. I recently had to take a leave of absence to enter a in-patient program for personal reasons. I went through the necessary steps with the company's HR department and explained the situation to my immediate supervisor which I also consider a friend- in hindsight I may have offered more information than needed. Upon my return, a few co-workers approached me and expresed their concern as they knew why I was out. When I asked how they found out about the personal nature of my absence, it turns out my supervisor told a few fellow employees that she is close with and they proceeded to tell others. This has created an uncomfortable work environment for me and I am considering leaving for a new start. This additional stress has also had impact on my mental well being which is one reason I needed the leave of absence in the first place. I have an impeccable work history with rave reviews in my tenure with the company. Something about this situation seems unfair to me, do I have any legal recourse here?
